Public Sauna Guidelines
We ask everyone to observe these guidelines to make the sauna time enjoyable for everyone:
-
Please bring your own towel. This not only reduces our impact on the environment as you can reuse your own towel again before laundering but it also helps keep our overhead more manageable thus helping us keep access to the sauna as affordable as possible.
-
Absolutely no shoes (including shower sandals) in the sauna or shower areas.
-
If you are not comfortable being naked, only clean bathing suits/shorts are allowed in the sauna - or ask for one of our velcro wraps (both for men and women) intended for in the sauna use. NO exercise attire is allowed in the sauna.
-
If you are wearing strongly scented lotions, perfumes, oils, etc. please shower before entering the sauna.
-
Please take a quick rinsing shower every time before using the cold plunge as we have several people using the plunge during the public sauna session and this way it stays cleaner for everyone.
-
Always use a seating pad (provided by us) when in the sauna and bring it out to the laundry basket when you are finished.
-
Please limit your stay to 90 minutes in the sauna and allow for shower and dressing time within the session time you signed up for. We want to accommodate everyone while keeping the sauna as clean as possible between multiple sessions.
-
Please ask other participants before throwing water on the rocks (Löyly) and refrain from throwing several scoops at a time.
-
Try not to leave immediately after Löyly water has been thrown as this defeats the purpose and dissipates the heat for those wanting to enjoy it.
-
Please be mindful of the fact that some people enjoy a quiet sauna - it is actually one of the “unspoken rules” in Finland that sauna is an opportunity for quiet rest as opposed to loud conversation (especially about work or politics).
-
Drink plenty of water and take a break any time you need it - not all sauna sessions will feel the same for your body.
